This article is supposed to be about beating bronchitis with herbs. But really, if you break down the symptoms you are having, you might find helpful information here. For example, if you are congested (and bronchitis isn't the only icky germ that makes congestion), you can take Ivy Leaf. I know that when I get sick (or when the boys do), antibiotics are the last resort for our h...

Well, we had the Fancy Nancy Party today...and it was a success! First, let's talk about the snacks. Last night, after I got home from dinner at Larry's Masonic lodge, I dipped plain white marshmallows into melted Hershey's chocolate. I dipped less than half the marshmallow in the chocolate (I didn't want it to be TOO chocolaty)...then I dipped THAT into sprinkles. Thr...

Reading to your child is one of the most fundamentally important things you can do for them (short of feeding them and loving them, of course). By reading to your child daily, you show them that literacy is important in your world. Mem Fox once wrote a book about why you should read 1000 books before Kindergarten with your children. This averages to less than 1 book a day. ...

For Science Club today (at my library) we are talking about Animal Camouflage. I am lucky enough to receive excellent information from PBS about their shows. Ruff Ruffman is a dog on PBS who teaches the kids by leading them through experiments. Today's program came from a book published by PBS on Science. Picture from hereDid you know that when a pack of zebras run together...

Since that last post was so long with our weekend stuff, I thought I'd give you some short updates...bullet style.Colton is trying to roll over. He's 3.5 months. I'm trying to remember if this is the right age for him to roll back to front, but am resisting looking it up. I hate looking up one thing to see if it's "normal" then finding out he hasn't done 3 things he 'should' have...

Apparently I'm all about cooking today. I'm making a pork loin at home right now -- it's in the crock pot getting all yummy. When I get home I'm going to take the pork out, shred it, then add some Applesauce BBQ sauce. The recipe came from here. I am sitting here dreaming of how amazing my house must smell right now. And I know for a fact that it will smell yummy...

When Dalton was born 4 years ago, Larry and I would make up his bottles when we went to bed. Then we'd leave them in the kitchen all set for one of us to get up with D to feed him and do some midnight cuddling. It seemed to work for us because we felt like we should do the feeding in the living room to let the other one sleep. Doing this, though, meant Dalton cried from the time ...

The '@your library' slogan is big with the American Library Association. It makes it nice and easy when I'm planning programs. I can just name the program, then add @your library. Soon my afterschool clubs will be starting back up. I have 5 clubs on Thursdays after school. Week 1 of every month is Craft Club. This month, we are "Painting without Paintbrushes."&n...

These are just little things I've thought that I could do to advertise a small business (I have 2 of small businesses). Make bookmarks to pass out to people you meet. The idea here is similar to passing out business cards, except people will remember a bookmark more than yet another business card. Don't forget to use a catchy picture or clip art and add all the important inf...
